Melania Trump's apparent absence from her husband Donald's side has become more stark as his second term progresses. One former advisor thinks Trump showed his true feelings towards his wife with a furious rant at a White House dinner.

According to the Daily Beast, the First Lady has made a public appearance just 38 times during the first seven months of 2026. She was also apparently only seen in public 47 times in 2025 after the inauguration on January 20. This pales into comparison when compared to the likes of Michelle Obama, Jill Biden and Laura Bush.

Against this backdrop there has been fevered discussion about the state of their relationship. It comes as a former Trump aide gave six terrifying predictions for the president's finale.

Anthony Scaramucci, who famously served as Trump's White House Communications Director for only 11 days near the start of his first term, found himself on the end of a stunning outburst from the President over the seating arrangements.

Anthony told the Daily Beast's podcast that he had always had a good relationship with Melania, enjoying a "good rapport" with the First Lady.

This is something which appeared to annoy Trump, who showed his true colours when Anthony and Melania found themselves sat next to each other during a dinner in the White House's Blue Room.

He said: "For some reason I was sitting next to Melania. And he got pissed at me.

"He's a taller guy than me. And he looked over and looked down at me and he's like: 'Why are you sitting next to my wife?'

"And I looked at him and I'm like: 'I have no idea. First of all, do you think I made the place cards? I have no idea why I'm sitting next to your wife.'

"And I think it unnerves him when people have a good rapport with her."

The political advisor said that once Trump realised Anthony had nothing to do with the seat selection, he calmed down.

Anthony was initially critical of Trump before eventually backing him in the 2016 election, joining the campaign's finance committee and transition team.

He then had his ill-fated stint as Communications Director in July 2017. Days into the job, he launched a strongly-worded attack on members of the Trump administration during an interview with The New Yorker that he believed was off the record. He was promptly sacked.

Anthony is now an outspoken critic of Trump, endorsing Democratic candidates Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024.

Opening up about his relationship with Melania, he said: "She was always very nice to me. I always liked her, my wife liked her. She was down to earth, classy."

Anthony has previously commented on Melania's relationship with her husband, claiming she secretly hoped Kamala Harris would beat Trump in the 2024 election. He even claimed that she "hated" her husband. Meanwhile, a worrying picture of Trump with 'multiple huge bruises' and a white mark on his arm sparked health conspiracies.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shared a birthday tribute to his wife, Princess Beatrice

He signed off with his and their children’s first initials, a move also used by Kate Middleton and Prince William

“Happy Birthday to my phenomenal, beautiful wife...You make our world,” Edo captioned the Instagram post

Princess Beatrice’s birthday tribute from Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi included their children in a sweet yet subtle way.

To celebrate Beatrice’s 38th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 8, her husband shared a loving tribute on his personal Instagram page. The post included four photos of the couple, including casual selfies and even a behind-the-scenes look at her cousin Peter Phillips’ recent royal wedding. Edo, as he’s known to family and friends, captioned the post, “Happy Birthday to my phenomenal, beautiful wife. We love [you] so much. You make our world.”

Edo signed the note, “Love E,W,S,A xxxx 🩷🩷🩷,” using the initials for himself and their three children: Christopher Woolf, known as “Wolfie,” 10, Sienna, 4, and Athena, 1.

Princess Beatrice and Edo, 42, welcomed two daughters after getting married in 2020. Upon their marriage, Beatrice also became a stepmother to Wolfie, Edo’s son from a previous relationship.

Edo’s use of his and the children’s first initials is similar to a move utilized by Beatrice’s cousin Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, sign off social media posts with their first initials to indicate that a message came directly from them rather than their team.

The royal couple has also extended the practice to their three children — Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8 — using their initials on tributes for birthdays and holidays.

Most recently, for Prince William’s 44th birthday in June, a photo of the royal heir and Princess Charlotte was shared on social media with the caption, “Happy birthday and Father’s Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L 💕.”

Edo’s birthday tribute to Princess Beatrice came just a few days after he opened up about his family in a Q&A for Gentleman’s Journal. When he was asked to name his “perfect holiday,” the property developer and entrepreneur responded, “Getting off the beaten track, disconnecting from emails and news and spending time with my family.”

He also named “travel and time with family” as his biggest luxury and “time with family and friends” as his ideal way to relax.

The interview came a few months after reports of marital strife between Edo and Beatrice. The Mail on Sundayreported in March that a “distance” had grown between the couple as they dealt with the fallout from the scandals linking Princess Beatrice’s parents, the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, to Jeffrey Epstein, resulting in them losing their royal titles.

“Things haven’t been great for a while between them, but Beatrice has been determined to soldier on and forge a path through,” a source told the Mail. “She wants to stay together, but he seems more and more distracted by work and travel. Just when she needs him most, he’s been pulling away.”

However, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time that any rumors about marriage trouble were “complete nonsense.”

Speculation about Beatrice and Edoardo’s relationshipbegan in November 2018. “Edoardo is a friend of Beatrice’s family,” a source told PEOPLE at that time. Despite rumors that they had been introduced recently, they had already known each other for years.

They got engaged in 2019 and married the following year. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, they had a scaled-down wedding at Windsor Chapel in front of around 20 close friends and family members, including Beatrice’s grandparents Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

“It was very private, intimate and romantic,” a source told PEOPLE. ”It was planned for some time, and everyone had to be extremely cautious leading up to the big day because the Queen was in attendance. They had to make sure everyone who was attending was in perfect health.”

Some of country music's most notorious stories have played out in song. But, sometimes, the drama leaves the stage.

The genre's rich lore has been marked by rivalries, lawsuits, divorces and public spats, from Dolly Parton's turbulent split with Porter Wagoner's television empire to the Aldeans' politically charged dispute with Maren Morris.

Throughout the decades, conflicts involving stars like Toby Keith, The Chicks, Johnny Cash and Charlie Rich have sparked headlines and ignited debates about everything from artistic freedom to politics' place in country music.

More recently, these disputes have played out increasingly through social media, rather than behind closed doors.

While some conflicts were deeply personal, others were purely professional. Across the board, many of these clashes left a lasting mark on country music, influencing artists' careers, changing industry norms and helping define the genre's cultural identity.

Here's a look back at the most controversial, and arguably the most unforgettable, country music feuds of all time.

Toby Keith vs. The Chicks

One of the biggest rifts in country music history was between Toby Keith and Natalie Maines, lead singer of The Chicks.

It began in 2002 when Maines criticized Keith's song "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," an impassioned, pro-America anthem written after Keith's father died. It was also written in response to the 9/11 attacks.

The rift escalated through personal insults and doctored concert photos — Keith displayed an image of Maines next to dictator Saddam Hussein at his live shows — in addition to Maines wearing a shirt that said "FUTK" at an awards show.

The two artists' back-and-forth became intertwined with political debates about the Iraq War, ushering in a larger conversation about the role of politics in country music.

The feud ended in August 2003 when Keith decided to let go of his anger.

After one of Keith's band members lost a 2-year-old daughter to cancer, Keith felt the celebrity feud was trivial. He publicly stated: "enough is enough."

Johnny Cash vs. The Grand Ole Opry

In October 1965, Johnny Cash was temporarily banned from the Grand Ole Opry following a drunken onstage performance.

During the show, Cash erupted, smashing the venue's floor and footlights with a microphone stand after a technical issue set him off.

Management barred him from performing at the Grand Ole Opry during this low point in his life, which was marked by alcoholism and amphetamine addiction.

After the evening, Cash spiraled further, eventually becoming motivated to get clean with the help of his wife, June Carter.

In 1968, Cash and the Opry reconciled. He was welcomed back to perform and remained on good terms with the institution for the rest of his life.

Dolly Parton vs. Porter Wagoner

In 1967, country singer Porter Wagoner hired a young Dolly Parton as a featured performer on his television program, "The Porter Wagoner Show," where the duo became legendary country music duet partners.

Years later, in 1974, Parton decided she wanted to pursue a solo career, but felt held back creatively and financially by Wagoner.

Wagoner sued Parton for $3 million for breach of contract, also claiming he was entitled to a cut of her earnings for life. The two settled out of court in 1980 for roughly $1 million.

Eventually the two singers made up and even worked on a collaborative album called "Porter and Dolly."

Parton famously wrote her hit "I Will Always Love You" for Wagoner, a track that shows her gratitude while also explaining the reasons she needed to leave his show.

In 2007, Wagoner was dying of lung cancer at age 80. Parton visited his bedside, held his hand, prayed and sang quietly to him just hours before he passed away.

Charlie Rich vs. John Denver

The conflict between Charlie Rich and John Denver stems from a single infamous moment on October 13, 1975.

Rich — the reigning 1974 entertainer of the year — took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville to announce the 1975 winner, which was John Denver.

When Rich saw Denver's name, he set fire to the envelope as a symbolic protest against country's growing pop crossover movement.

The shocking live-television incident was widely interpreted as an emblematic moment, rather than an ongoing personal rivalry.

Denver, who accepted the award via satellite from Australia, was completely unaware of the event as he delivered a gracious speech. Rich was effectively blacklisted and banned from future CMA ceremonies.

Travis Tritt vs. Billy Ray Cyrus

The feud between '90s country stars Billy Ray Cyrus and Travis Tritt began when Tritt called out Cyrus' mega-hit, "Achy Breaky Heart."

Tritt said Cyrus' music video was an "a** wiggling contest," a phrase that Cyrus later referenced in his speech when he won the award for favorite country single at the 1993 AMAs.

Cyrus shouted into the microphone: "To those people who don't like 'Achy Breaky Heart,' here's a quarter, call someone who cares!" referencing Tritt's song "Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)."

The feud died down, and Tritt apologized, saying that he broke an unwritten rule of country music by publicly bashing another artist's work.

The two singers put their differences behind them. They even performed together at a Waylon Jennings tribute in 2002.

Jason and Brittany Aldean vs. Maren Morris

In 2022, Maren Morris publicly criticized comments made by Brittany Aldean, leading to a widely publicized social-media battle involving Brittany Aldean, Jason Aldean supporters and much of Nashville's country music commentary ecosystem.

The conflict started when Jason's wife, Brittany, shared a makeup tutorial on Instagram where she thanked her parents for not "changing her gender" while she was going through a "tomboy phase."

Singer Cassadee Pope was the first to call out Brittany's comments as transphobic, then Morris joined in.

Morris called Brittany "Insurrection Barbie" on social media and told her to "sell your clip-ins and zip it."

When Brittany appeared on an episode of Fox's "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Morris was branded as a "lunatic country music person."

Both Jason Aldean and Morris eventually created merch in support of their respective charities of choice, allowing fans to back whichever side they took.

Morris supported the GLAAD Transgender Media Program and the Trans Lifeline, while the more conservative couple chose Operation Light Shine, a Nashville-based organization that works to combat sex trafficking.

Zach Bryan vs. Gavin Adcock

Country singers Gavin Adcock and Zach Bryan have a public rivalry sparked by disagreements about how performers should treat fans, which led to an altercation at a music festival that almost got physical.

In July 2025, a 14-year-old fan posted online, expressing frustration after they waited hours for an autograph from Zach Bryan at MetLife Stadium after a show.

Bryan responded with a now-deleted comment stating, "You're not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello," adding "GOMD" (get off my d***).

Adcock publicly slammed Bryan on X and in podcast interviews, questioning why Bryan didn't show grace to a teenage fan.

Tension peaked Sept. 13, 2025, at the Born & Raised Festival in Bryan's home state of Oklahoma, where Bryan confronted Adcock near his tour bus.

Video footage showed Bryan yelling insults and banging on a chain-link fence.

Eventually, Bryan scaled the fence to get at Adcock before security guards intervened. Adcock did not engage physically.

In a social media video, Adcock said, “I didn't take the Zach Bryan bait, and I'll be praying for him to get better because he sure needs it.”

Not every feud in country music has ended in reconciliation. However, each has became a part of country music's broader story.

The conflicts underscore what country music fans have always known about the genre: it has always thrived on strong personalities and strong opinions.

President Donald Trump posted a touched-up photograph of himself from his weekend golf trip, where he appeared much more youthful, instead of sharing the original image.

The 80-year-old president was pictured Sunday at his Bedminster club in New Jersey driving the golf cart alongside retired professional Gary Player, 90, as they attended the LIV Golf New York tournament.

Trump, who often posts about how young he feels for his age, did not share the original photograph on Truth Social but posted a version in which he appeared to have undergone a computer-generated glow-up.

“With the great Gary Player, today, at Bedminster!” the post said.Player, by comparison, appeared almost exactly the same in the computer-generated image as the original.

Some of the president’s critics shared the two images side by side on social media.

Trump appeared to have undergone an glow-up, while Player appeared essentially the same as he did in the original image (@realDonaldTrump/Truth Social)

“Trump’s AI Image vs. Reality,” quipped the anti-Trump Patriot Takes account.

“First image: Trump posted it bragging about playing golf this weekend. Second image: Actual photograph of 2 elderly men pretending to play golf this weekend,” said Brian Krassenstein, a liberal influencer and frequent critic of Trump’s.

Natalie Harp, Trump’s longtime devoted aide, is reportedly the person helping the president with his Truth Social posts, and compiles screenshots of social media posts from allies or fans praising the president for him to review. Harp was pictured returning to the White House with the president this weekend.

The Independent has contacted the White House for comment.

Trump was also pictured over the weekend with markings on his right arm. The discoloration on the president’s hands has become a subject of persistent scrutiny, but the apparently new markings on his arm prompted fresh speculation.

The White House has repeatedly brushed off concerns, attributing the marks to the physical toll of Trump’s constant public engagement.

Trump was also pictured over the weekend with markings on his right arm (Reuters)

“President Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history,” White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said previously in a statement provided to The Independent. “The President is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history.”

Trump’s appearance came under further scrutiny last week after pictures of the president’s new hairdo went viral.

The commander-in-chief sported a seemingly brighter and fuller head of hair as he gave a speech in Las Vegas, prompting his estranged niece, Mary Trump, to liken him to Hermey the Elf from the animated Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

“I’m not going to say anything about whether it looked good or not. I don't really care,” she told SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah’s YouTube show. “However, he looked like Herby the Dentist from ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ — that’s what, that was my takeaway.”
