About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Kyle Larson , Alex Bowman , and several other drivers traded the racetrack for a mock jail cell at the 2026 Jail & Bail charity event. Held on Tuesday, October 27, at Boatyard Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina, the fundraiser challenged NASCAR personalities to raise enough money to secure their symbolic release.
The event was organized to benefit the Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship, which helps women pursue technical education and careers in the automotive and motorsports industries. Rather than facing actual criminal charges, the participating drivers, crew chiefs, spotters, and other racing personalities were taking part in a fundraising initiative organized by TechForce Foundation in partnership with The NASCAR Foundation.

According to the official event leaderboard shown on the Jail & Bail website , Larson led the fundraising standings with $62,712.67, followed by Bowman with $42,948.20 and Chase Briscoe with $25,102.33.
The annual Jail & Bail event uses a mock arrest and bail system to raise money for scholarships. Participants are symbolically "locked up" and encouraged to collect donations from fans, sponsors, friends, and supporters to raise their bail.
The fifth annual event brought together over 20 drivers, owners, crew chiefs, and spotters from across NASCAR, including personalities associated with the Cup Series and ARCA Menards Series. The objective was to turn the sport's competitive spirit into fundraising support for students pursuing technical careers.

Jordan Anderson, Corey Heim, Cole Custer, and several other motorsports personalities also appeared on the fundraiser's participant list.
The event included a mock courtroom, with Larry McReynolds serving as judge, Danielle Trotta as emcee, and Karsyn Elledge as jail reporter. Freddie Kraft, Tommy Baldwin, Slugger Labbe, and Kevin "Bono" Manion were listed among the attorneys.
Larson topped the leaderboard, raising more than $62,000. Bowman finished second, with Briscoe third.

The fundraiser honors Brienne Davis, a former NASCAR technical inspector who died in a car accident on April 8, 2008, at age 28. A graduate of Universal Technical Institute, Davis worked in the automotive industry before joining NASCAR as an inspector in 2004.
She traveled with the series on race weekends, inspecting components such as carburetors and manifolds. Her work and dedication made her a respected member of the motorsports community.

The scholarship was established in her memory through a partnership involving The NASCAR Foundation and TechForce Foundation. It aims to help women access technical education and build careers in an industry where the pathway into professional automotive work has not always been equally accessible.
The scholarship can help recipients manage the financial demands of education while pursuing careers in areas such as automotive technology, electric-vehicle technology, and motorsports. TechForce Foundation, a nonprofit organization, works to support students as they progress through technical education and into professional technician careers.
According to NASCAR's announcement ahead of the 2026 event, the Jail & Bail fundraiser supports a $10,000 Brienne Davis Memorial Scholarship. The organization reported that 53 scholarships had been awarded since December 2008.
Fans can learn more about the initiative, view participating personalities, and find donation options through the official TechForce Foundation Jail & Bail website.
The event gives fans an opportunity to support their favorite drivers while contributing to educational opportunities for future automotive technicians. For Larson, Bowman, and the other participants, the goal was not to escape a real jail sentence but to help raise funds for students working toward careers in the automotive and motorsports industries.
