Matthew Lillard is itching to work with Mark Hamill again — this time in the Star Wars universe.
Lillard previously worked with Hamill on The Life of Chuck.
“He’s such a good dude,” Lillard told EW at Comic-Con.

The SLC Punk star gushed about one of his favorite collaborators during an interview at EW’s 2026 San Diego Comic-Con Studio when asked to manifest his dream scene partner.
“Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, is a friend. I love him,” Lillard said of the iconic Jedi actor, who starred alongside him in Mike Flanagan’s recent Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck. “He’s such a good dude.”

Lillard’s fixation on Hamill began with childhood adoration of Star Wars — and he credits George Lucas’ space adventures as a primary motivation for becoming an actor.
“For me, the defining moment of my life as a young man, the reason I think I became an actor, is because I played with Star Wars action figures from the time I was 10 to entirely too long in my life,” he said. “I played with Star Wars action figures for entirely too long. I was like, driving, picking up girls, taking them on dates, making out, and then going home and playing action figures. That’s a lot of information, but it’s true.”
Lillard has lent his talents to a number of notable entertainment franchises, including Scream, Twin Peaks, Scooby-Doo, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, but there’s nowhere he wants to go more than a galaxy far, far away.

“For me, being a part of Star Wars, I would literally do anything to be a part of that franchise because of what it means to me,” Lillard said. “I also believe that playing these characters with such defined codes of belief — good guy, bad guy, fighting to save the universe — those themes are so exciting as an actor.”
He added, “Mark Hamill in Star Wars — please, please let’s make this happen. You guys, let’s manifest this s‑‑‑. Let’s manifest it.”

Lillard will soon reunite with Flanagan in the horror maestro’s upcoming adaptation of King’s Carrie. The series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie and Samantha Sloyan as her abusive mother.
“Working with Sam Sloyan is one of the great gifts of my career,” Lillard said. “Every now and then you catch an actor or actress in their prime and with the part of a lifetime, and I feel like that’s Sam right now in Carrie. Her work’s incredible. She’s ultra-prepared and comes with this ferocity of work that as an actor, all you have to do is receive the energy and throw it back. And when you’re working at that sort of level, it’s peak, and it challenges you to be the best you can.”
Carrie is expected to premiere this fall on Prime Video.
