William Russ is opening up about what it was like working with the young actors of Boy Meets World.
Speaking on the Tuesday, June 16 episode of the Hey Dude...The '90s Called! podcast, Russ, 75, said the show "was a great gift," adding, "I will be forever grateful to the universe for [show creator] Michael Jacobs and all the wonderful writers and, you know, the kids: Ben and Ryder and Eric and Danielle."
"It was just a great crew and cast and they've, you know, grown up to be podcasters themselves," he said of the rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World, hosted by Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle.

"I'm just really proud of them. They found their own ways and I got to owe that a lot to Michael Jacobs and how he approached shows," Russ said. "And the first thing he said was, 'I'm taking care of these kids. I'm not going to let them get wasted, right?' And I don't mean that figuratively, but he's not going to, you know, exploit them to get his show done, you know?"
Added Russ: "He always made sure they were true and healthy and strong and they learned a lot from him and all the writers, too. Everyone took care of everyone. We didn't put up with any bulls---."

Boy Meets World premiered in September 1993 and followed the beloved Matthews family as they navigated evolving family dynamics, experienced their first loves and dealt with everyday high school drama.
Ben Savage starred as Cory Matthews, and his on-screen siblings were played by Will Friedle and Lindsay Ridgeway, with his parents played by Betsy Randle and Russ.
As the show unfolded, Savage's character falls for his longtime friend Topanga Lawrence (Fishel), and they end up getting married. In addition to the Matthews family, the series also featured Strong as Shawn Hunter, Trina McGee as Angela Moore, Matthew Lawrence as Jack Hunter, Anthony Tyler Quinn as Mr. Turner, William Daniels as Mr. Feeny and Maitland Ward as Rachel McGuire.
In 2024, many of the show's stars — including Pod Meets World podcast co-hosts Fishel, Strong and Friedle — reunited during a panel at '90s Con in Connecticut. Eight of the actors, including Russ, reunited again when Fishel dedicated her Oct. 2025 Dancing with the Stars performance to Daniels.
