Anya Taylor-Joy once had pink hair.
During a visit to the Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday, March 19, Taylor-Joy, 29, said recalled a time when she dyed her hair pink inside of a Chipotle bathroom in New York City. The Queen's Gambit star said she was 14 years old at the time and wanted a look that would match her new life in the city.
"I saw Ricky's as soon as I arrived in New York and there was something about it that just called to me," she said of the former beauty supply chain. "And I thought, 'Okay, I'm in New York. I'm going to be who I always wanted to be. I need pink hair.' "

"So I ran in, grabbed some pink hair dye, went to a Chipotle and dyed my hair pink in a Chipotle bathroom," she revealed to Meyers, 52. "It worked out."
When asked if it was an impulsive decision, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie star said that she was trying to live out a fantasy that she had of herself as a New Yorker. "I think my fantasy of New York was, I'm going to come here and everything is going to make sense and I can't wait to be this next version of myself," she said. "And that version of myself had to have dip-dyed pink hair."

Taylor-Joy, who currently sports long blonde tresses, said that she "used to" be someone who dyed their hair a lot. "I've had very dark hair. I've had silver hair with no eyebrows — that was a phase," she said. "But I had to stop because my hair grows really quickly."

Taylor-Joy said she knew it was time to stop dying her hair once she was asked by a concerned friend at a dinner party if she "was okay." As it turns out, the friend thought that the actress' hair was "falling out" because he could see her blonde roots, which made her look bald.
"When you're blonde and you have dark hair, as it grows out, it looks like your balding," Taylor-Joy explained. "So, I put an end to that."
The Golden Globe winner said that her family has also been very "supportive" of her different hairstyles, even when she wore the no eyebrow look to her brother's wedding. "I'm not sure he was that pleased, but they're very supportive," she said.
