"He was doing what he was meant to do," said an emotional Jack

Jack Osbourne is opening up about how his late father Ozzy felt after his final concert.

In a new interview on Billy Corgan's The Magnificent Others podcast, Jack, 40, got emotional as he spoke about how Ozzy's Back to the Beginning farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, U.K. made the Black Sabbath icon feel.

The topic arose as Corgan, 58, explained he long observed that Ozzy seemed "very overwhelmed" by his level of fame and would receive encouragement from his wife Sharon to continue sharing his talents with fans.

Jack agreed. "I think it came down to self worth," he said. "When left to his own devices, that kind of darkness of 'I am less than, I suck, I'm not worthy' would really take over."

According to Corgan, photographer Ross Halfin said similar things about Ozzy after shooting the "Crazy Train" artist's farewell show on July 5, 2025 — less than two weeks before his death.

"Ross said to me after the final show in Birmingham, he said every gig that he ever shot your dad — going all the way back to the '70s – your dad would be like, 'I was terrible. I'm so embarrassed. I can't believe these people are cheering for me,'" said the Grammy winner. "And he said the last gig was the only time [Ozzy] didn't say that."

Jack explained Ozzy was "so happy" after the performance: "It was the craziest thing. I ran into the dressing room, and I was like, 'You did it!' He was smiling."

The rock icon's son then started to cry. "I'm only crying because of the joy. He was so happy," he said.

"He was doing what he was meant to do," added Jack.

The Back to the Beginning concert featured both a Black Sabbath performance and a solo set from Ozzy as well as guest appearances from Corgan, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Yungblud, Guns N' Roses, Slayer and many more acts.

Ozzy died at age 76 on July 22, 2025. "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the Osbournes confirmed to PEOPLE at the time in a statement.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love," continued the family. "We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."
